With WoW: Shadowlands came a first comprehensive update for accessibility into the online role-playing game. Since then, the developers of World of Warcraft have worked on new accessibility options and improvements for existing opportunities. The latest update brings numerous opportunities that the gaming experience in terms of accessibility should significantly improve. In an article on the official WOW website , the designers have presented the updates for accessibility now in detail.
- Mouseover spell for units window
- click assignment
- Mouse pointer scaling
- Updated: Support of Controllers
- Updated: Updates for Text-to-Speech
- Updated: additional chat commands
"We also want to continue to develop features that make sure that the adventures in shadowlands and beyond really are epic. All accessibility options can be found in the user interface of the game menu (default keyboard shortcuts: ESC).
Mouseover spell for units window
Enables this option in the interface functions under "Fight". Once you have activated, you can move the mouse over a unit window and spells act directly on this unit without having to target them.
This means that if you enable this option, the desired magic is applied directly to the target on which your cursor is located. Press any key occupied with a magic to work this spell on your mouseover goal (assuming it is a valid goal for your spell - you do not want to heal the enemy!).
click assignment
This option allows you to assign magic and macros mouse clicks. You can then act the specified magic and macros by clicking directly on the unit window. With the switching, CTRL or Old keys you can set alternative click assignments. Click assignment allows you to assign magic and macros mouse clicks. Source: Blizzard This option can be combined with mouseover spells for unit window, making your fast spell on allies, by moving and clicking the mouse over it, or you can quickly switch to goals to prove several enemies with weakening effects.
Mouse pointer scaling
You can now increase the size of the mouse pointer to make it more visible. This option already existed as a console command, but now it is also available in the accessibility menu. You can now customize the size of the mouse pointer. Source: Blizzard
Updated: Support of Controllers
We have made additional API updates on these controllers to improve the support of controllers, touchpads and gyros so that addon developers can exploit them. Dialogues and emotes from opponents and bosses were added as options for text-to-speech. Source: Blizzard
Updated: Updates for Text-to-Speech
Text-to-Speech now supports several chat riders and the settings can now be stored for the whole account rather than just for the character. In addition, dialogues and emotes of opponents and bosses were added as options for text-to-speech. You can activate text-to-speech for boss emotes and whisper, but also for regular say, scream, whisper and emotes in the interface for text-to-speech under "chat".
Updated: additional chat commands
We have added an abbreviation for the command / facial check. You can now enter / BC for this command. There is also a new command to start a countdown. Give it / CD and then a number one, for example / CD 10. This will at the same time start a countdown for all players in your group or battles. Please note that this option is only available to the group or raid manager. Last but not least, you can now link your ratings for PVP and mythical + with Shift and Left-click in chat, as you would otherwise do with objects. "
